In my typical 24 hour day, music is either playing in the background, intentionally listened to, or being performed for at least 12-16 hours of the day. I think the pattern I just described has been evident for the last 25 years of my life...I can think of only a few circumstances/days where I didn't listen to music.

This is the inaugural journal entry of what I hope to be a robust, lively, and meaningful discussion/research project to explore what role music plays in the everyday lives of people all over the world. It is my belief that we are 'wired' or created with an internal rhythm which demonstrates itself in various ways...how we interact in relationships, work, the music we listen to, how we drive our cars, how we access memories, how we walk/talk, and on and on. Some call this rhythm your 'personality type' which is fine...whatever you want to term it...for my research project, I'll refer to it as your 'internal rhythm'

So, to get us started, I'd like to receive feedback on how one uses music in their daily lives...are you a casual listener, intense listener, only use it for exercise, you listen to the same song(s) over and over on a short playlist, you like a certain chord, word, or sound of a song so you hit the repeat button on your cd player/ipod to hear that 'section' over and over, what artists mean the most to you and why....anything goes here...I want to hear from you.

Music is life for millions of people....but how deeply involved it is in your life is what I'm curious about.

Thank you for reading.
b
